Founder of Rose Pedal - Olivia Gerns
Ms. Gerns hails from Westlake Village, CA, and achieved her Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Performance and Music Education at Chapman University. She began her musical journey at age 5, that has flourished in each stage of her life. Olivia’s first love is the piano, and much like her own students, she took weekly lessons, performed in recitals, and learned how to read and write her own music. As middle school approached, she decided to expand her instrumental experience by learning the oboe. Both instruments carried her through her high school career and into college.
At Chapman, Olivia was a scholarship recipient, as well as the winner of The Chapman Orchestra Instrumental Concerto Competition in 2016. She toured with orchestras in Spain and Italy, performed frequently on Piano, Oboe, and English Horn, and won awards in the conservatory. At this time in her career is when she started singing, writing, and publishing her own songs.
Post grad, Ms. Gerns has been pursuing many avenues of music, including teaching, performing, writing, and administrating. The beginning of her teaching career entailed serving as a choir coach in Orange Unified School District, and an instrumental coach and conductor in the Las Virgenes Unified School District. In addition, she has worked with many notable artists and composers in the industry, and aims to apply her knowledge, experience, and connections in her teaching studio. She has also performed in notable venues including the infamous Baked Potato Jazz Club in Hollywood. Olivia looks forward to giving her students the opportunity to achieve musical fulfillment, and encourages them to strive be their best selves; musically and in life.
